    Open Streets 2017 Healthy Lifestyles Take to the Streets at 5th Annual Aurora BayCare Open Streets Green Bay. The streets of downtown Green Bay came alive with healthy forms of transportation on Saturday, July 15, as families and kids of all ages gathered to participate in Aurora BayCare Medical Center’s 5th annual Open Streets Green Bay event. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the area was closed to traditional motorists and “open” to bicyclists, walkers, runners, rollerbladers and other forms of active transportation. Over 3,000 people came out to the event which was free and open to all.

The bill increases consumer access to naloxone (narcan), an opioid antagonist that can save the lives of people who overdose on heroin or prescription painkillers.

    Aurora BayCare Physical Therapist to Present Video at International Conference in Brazil

    Karen Schultz, DPT Aurora BayCare Medical Center Two physical therapists from Northeast Wisconsin will be representing the U.S. as they receive a “Best Video Award” at an international medical conference in Brazil this month. Karen Schultz, DPT, from Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County, and Lindi Magnuson, PT, from Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, will be presenting their video at the International Continence Society’s annual meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 20-24. Schultz and Magnuson’s video, titled “Therapeutic Treatments for Incontinence and Pelvic Pain,” provides an overview of physical therapy treatment options for incontinence. Ten videos were selected for recognition at the conference, four of which address incontinence from a physical therapy perspective. The Aurora Health Care submission is the only physical therapy video selected from the United States.

    Aurora BayCare Spooky Sprint Registration Now Open

    Aurora BayCare Spooky Sprint runners Registration for the 6th Annual Aurora BayCare Spooky Sprint is now open. New this year, the event will support the LIVESTRONG program and will also include a 10K in addition to the 5K and 1-mile run/walk. The event will take place Saturday, October 25th at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, 2845 Greenbrier Road, Green Bay. The 10K will begin at 9 am, 5K at 9:15 am and 1 mile at 9:30 am. The route maps can be viewed online, as well as online registration. “This event continues to grow each year and is becoming an annual Halloween tradition for families and friends to enjoy together while being active,” said Jennifer Schnell, director of rehabilitation for Aurora BayCare Medical Center. “The addition of fundraising for LIVESTRONG, a cancer survivorship program, brings a new community benefit to the event.”

    Aurora Baycare Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center at dusk On September 30, Aurora BayCare Medical Center will host a half-day medical ethics conference exploring issues related to health care reform, medical futility, and end-of-life care. The keynote speaker is Robyn S. Shapiro, a Milwaukee area attorney who specializes in bioethics and health care law. Attorney Shapiro will discuss ethics and the Affordable Care Act, including a discussion of medically futile care.

    Aurora BayCare Medical Center facilities For the fourth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has named Aurora BayCare Medical Center among the Best Hospitals in Northeastern Wisconsin as part of its 2014-15 Best Hospitals rankings, available online at U.S. News. The report ranked Aurora BayCare as the 11th-best hospital in Wisconsin. The rankings also highlighted Aurora BayCare to be high performing in the specialty areas of orthopedics and urology, while scoring high in patient safety, demonstrating commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes.

    Aurora BayCare Medical Center facilities Aurora BayCare Medical Center ranks 30th nationally out of 100 hospitals recently listed as part of the inaugural Axial Exchange and Becker’s Hospital Review National Patient Engagement Ranking. The report evaluated 3,077 provider organizations across the country and their patient engagement efforts. Specifically, health care providers were evaluated using publicly available information, including patient readmissions, patient satisfaction, and the extent to which an organization helps patients take an informed, active role with decision-making in the type of care they receive.

While the two are everyday heroes in their line of work, their off the clock instincts took over at a Green Bay Gamblers game when they noticed a gentleman was suffering from a heart attack.

    Take Steps for Crohn's and Colitis Hundreds of Northeast Wisconsin residents will gather at Aurora BayCare Medical Center on Sunday, June 22 to show support for the 1.4 million Americans who suffer from inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. “This is the sixth year Aurora BayCare has been the presenting sponsor of this walk,” said Dan Meyer, Aurora BayCare President. “We are pleased to be hosting the walk on our campus this year for the first time. Last year’s event raised more than $60,000 and we hope to increase that amount this year.”

To receive this recognition, Aurora BayCare met a performance standard of 90% for specific performance measures for eight consecutive quarters.
