We offer complete care from diagnosis to medical treatment and follow-up. Our team is regularly involved in clinical trials and research programs to evaluate evolving treatments for pulmonary disease.
Pulmonary Function Testing
Correctly diagnosing pulmonary disease is critical to effective treatment. We employ a range of tests to evaluate your lung health and determine the cause of respiratory symptoms.
Our pulmonary function lab tests include:
- Arterial blood gas measurements
- Brochodilator and bronchial provocation
- Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET)
- Exercise and rest pulse oximetry
- Lung volume testing
- Respiratory muscle pressure assessment
- Upper airway function assessment
- Voluntary ventilation assessment
Bronchial thermoplasty is a non-drug treatment for severe, persistent asthma in patients 18 years and older whose asthma is not well controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and long-acting beta-agonists.
The bronchoscopy-based procedure uses a small catheter to deliver mild heat inside the airways to reduce excessive smooth muscle tissue. This decreases the muscle’s ability to constrict the airways, resulting in fewer asthma attacks. Treatment has been shown to improve asthma-related quality of life, including fewer severe asthma attacks, fewer emergency room visits and less time lost from work and school.
Interventional pulmonology is a relatively new field of pulmonology that focuses on minimally invasive techniques for diagnosing and treating chest conditions such as:
- Lung nodules
- Lung masses
- Pleural fluid
- Lung cancer
Our interventional pulmonologists offer expertise in bronchoscopy, endoscopic bronchial ultrasound, thoracoscopy, and electromagnetic navigation. We have the specialized expertise and leading edge technology to assist many patients who would traditionally be treated with more invasive procedures.
