Donors Honored at Flag Raising Ceremony at Aurora BayCare
On Monday, April 2, Aurora BayCare joined other Wisconsin hospital organizations in hosting a statewide simultaneous Donate Life Flag raising ceremony and moment of silence. The event, called Pause to Give Life, promotes the mission of organ, tissue and eye donation while honoring donors and their families.
At 10:08 a.m. Aurora BayCare Medical Center caregivers gathered as the Donate Life flag was raised to highlight the fact that one donor can save eight lives. This was followed by silence for 1 minute and 14 seconds to recognize the more than 114,000 patients waiting for a life-saving transplant. Of those patients more than 2,000 are waiting right here in Wisconsin.Ted Tromble, chaplain at Aurora BayCare, led the event and asked attendees to raise awareness about organ, tissue and eye donation locally.
Donate Life Wisconsin held the inaugural Pause to Give Life event as a new statewide observance to take place annually on the first Monday morning of April to mark the start of National Donate Life Month.
