Community Joins Together for the Lombardi Walk To Tackle Cancer at Aurora BayCare
More than 300 walkers joined forces at the 3rd Annual Lombardi Walk to Tackle Cancer on Saturday, June 17, on the Aurora BayCare Medical Center campus. This year participants were also able to get an inside glimpse of Aurora BayCare's new cancer clinic.
The annual Lombardi Walk to Tackle Cancer invites cancer survivors, fighters and supporters to walk a 5K course (3.1 miles) on the Aurora BayCare campus. The event itself is free, but participants were encouraged to create teams and raise funds to support cancer research and clinical trials in our community. This year's event raised over $25,000 and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation will match funds raised.
Walk participants were also able to go on a guided tour of Aurora BayCare's new cancer clinic. The new bright and calm space was designed with patients in mind and has private chemo bays, access to a relaxing healing garden and is home to the multi-disciplinary cancer clinic.
