Second Opinion

Aurora BayCare's Breast Care Second Opinion program

Many women seek a second opinion after a breast cancer diagnosis in order to confirm their physician's recommended treatment plan, or to seek options elsewhere. After a breast cancer diagnosis, it is important that you have an understanding of all the options available to you and that you feel empowered to make the best decision possible based on your individual needs.

Thank you for taking the time to get a second opinion from the experts in breast cancer at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. If you have received a diagnosis and/or have been advised to seek a certain type of treatment, we encourage you to take this important next step.

Getting a second opinion is easy

Once you decide you want a second opinion, Aurora BayCare's breast care team is ready to help. You can request to schedule an appointment for a second opinion online or by calling toll-free 1-866-880-8679.

  • A Second Opinion Navigator will ask a brief number of questions to better understand your current medical situation while capturing information on any diagnostic tests or surgeries you have had related to the reason for your call. After a navigator has collected your information, a member of the breast care team will review and call you back within 24 hours to schedule you with the specialist who is most appropriate for your needs. Prior to your appointment, Aurora BayCare Medical Center can even request your medical records from another clinic or hospital, which pertain specifically to your condition when appropriate. This information helps to reduce or eliminate charges for duplicate testing.
  • During your appointment, the physician will review your condition with you and discuss appropriate treatment options. You'll talk about your original diagnosis and all the treatment options available to you.

Whatever you decide, there's never any obligation to come to Aurora BayCare Medical Center for treatment or to use an Aurora Health Care or BayCare Clinic physician. So before committing to a new breast treatment or procedure, be sure you know all of your options.
