Continence therapy program
Incontinence is the involuntary loss of bowel or bladder control. This common
problem affects millions of Americans of all age groups. Many people change
their lifestyle in an effort to cope with the related embarrassment and may
suffer needlessly before they seek help.
Incontinence is treatable. According to the U.S. Agency for Health Care
Policy and Research, 80% of those who suffer from incontinence can be
successfully treated without surgery or drugs. Most patients are 50-75%
improved by 6 visits. Successful treatment begins with an accurate
diagnosis by a physician. Treatment recommendations may include physical or
occupational therapy as a first line of care.
Experienced staff
Aurora BayCare Medical Center’s continence program is staffed by physical
therapists who have been specially trained in issues involved with urinary
control and pelvic pain. The program strives to provide individualized education
