Pet Therapy Program

Aurora BayCare Medical Center's Pet Therapy program is the largest of it's kind in greater Green Bay.  Created in 2001, we continue to grow each year.  We have more than 24 volunteer dogs, a cat and a miniature horse that volunteer on a regular basis.

We have two types of pet therapy: patient's pets and handlers who volunteer bringing their own pet to patient's rooms.

Patient Pet Visits

We request that patient's pets are bathed prior to visiting their owners, are on a leash or caged and are accompanied by an adult.  If you would like your pet to visit, please discuss this with your nurse.

Volunteers

Prior to becoming a pet therapy volunteer at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, pets go through a Canine Good Citizenship program and are certified by Pet Therapy Dogs, Inc. Handlers and their pets volunteer on their own schedule.

We offer pet therapy visits to all areas of the hospital excluding surgery, cafeteria, labor/delivery, laboratory and other sterile areas.
