Green Bay, Wis. – An announcement by The Joint Commission on September 19, 2012 recognized Aurora BayCare Medical Center as a Top Performers in The Joint Commission's Top Performers on Key Quality Measures™ during 2011 in heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

The Joint Commission recognizes accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals that attain and sustain excellence in measured performance. Nationally, only 620 of more than 3,400 eligible hospitals were recognized by the Joint Commission.

"This recognition from The Joint Commission is a reflection of our caregivers putting the patient first and delivering the highest standard of care," said Dan Meyer, president of Aurora BayCare Medical Center. "Aurora BayCare is committed to the Green Bay community and northeastern Wisconsin and will continue to deliver the best care possible."

A top performing hospital in the program must first achieve performance of 95 percent or above on a single, composite score that includes all the accountability measures for which it reports data to The Joint Commission, including measures that had fewer than 30 eligible cases or patients. Second, the hospital must meet a 95 percent performance target for every accountability measure for which it reports data to The Joint Commission, excluding any measures with less than 30 eligible cases or patients.
