Live Fit in 2012: Six Aurora BayCare caregivers take charge with triathlon trainingLast year, Scott Zahn, MD, an Aurora pediatrician, decided he needed to make a change where his health was concerned. As part of the CNN Fit Nation program, Dr. Zahn began to integrate fitness into his everyday life in a big way. With a lot of sweat and support, he completed his first-ever triathlon and inspired the patients and colleagues around him. This spirit of personal transformation lives on with the LiveFit Triathlon Challenge, which kicked off Saturday, Jan. 6. Six Aurora BayCare caregivers will undergo five months of intense training to compete in the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Green Bay triathlon on June 3, which will include a 400-yard swim, 15-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run.
Dr. Zahn will serve as their mentor, and Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine will provide personal trainers and physical therapists to help the team along their journey. Caregivers competed to be part of Team LiveFit. They were evaluated on their personal story, level of commitment and willingness to become an advocate for healthy lifestyles among their family, friends and co-workers. The kickoff will provide participants with details on what to expect, along with a good dose of inspiration and their first group workout. We’ll be following our six caregivers on the Aurora Health Care Facebook page, and they’ll also be blogging about their personal wellness experience every week on the Aurora fitness blog. Share your support by subscribing to their updates today!
Best of luck to the team!
